The Hunger Games soundtrack sells 500 000 copies, certified Gold by the RIAA

The Recording Industry Association of America (RIAA) announced that the Hunger Games companion album, Songs From District 12 and Beyond, has been certified Gold for selling more than 500 000 copies in the United States. The album sold this amount in just one month.
Syco Records band One Direction’s “Up All Night,” Mercury Nashville legend Lionel Richie’s first record in five years “Tuskegee” and the Universal Republic soundtrack to popular post-apocalyptic film “The Hunger Games” each sold more than 500,000 copies to earn timely golden awards in April.
