Rumor control: Catching Fire arena scenes will NOT be filmed in Kauai, Hawaii
Kaua’i, Hawaii has been the rumored location for the Catching Fire arena scenes for a while now. The first report identifying the isle as a possible film location goes back to early June, when reporter Russ Bowen said the place was the ‘most likely shooting site for the arena‘. Since then, several sources have been telling the same story, until yesterday, when StarAdvertiser posted an article stating that a Lionsgate representative had denied the rumors and confirmed Kaua’i will not be one of the filming locations to the second Hunger Games movie.
Now we can exclusively confirm that the isle of Kaua’i, Hawaii will not be one of the filming locations for The Hunger Games: Catching Fire. A representative from Kaua’i‘s Tourism Department has confirmed to HungerTimes this information. “Unfortunately, ‘Hunger Games: Catching Fire’ is NOT coming to Kaua’i“, said the executive. The studio did have an interest on filming some scenes in the isle, but it finally decided to not use the site for Catching Fire.
So, it seems like Lionsgate has either not decided where to film the arena scenes or is trying to keep the locations under wraps. We’ll keep you updated as more information arises.
